Steak is one of my favorite foods to cook because it’s so easy. Now living here in Europe, it’s so easy to buy quality steak at affordable prices. In Manila, the beef you buy in the supermarket is so hard and chewy. If you want quality steak, you need to either buy it in Santis or find a meat supplier that provides you with consistently good beef.
Needless to say, cooking steak is something I have perfected already because it’s so easy. I don’t even deviate from this best steak marinade recipe because I don’t want to waste good quality steak. I’ve served this in parties here in my house all the time, and everyone always says the beef is divine. People have asked me for the recipe, and I always just tell them the secret ingredient for the best steak marinade ever.
My secret ingredient? Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce. There is no substitute for this, so if you don’t have it, you need to buy it before trying this best steak marinade recipe.

I cut my steak in half because I don’t like a super thick steak. For super thick steaks, I have to put it in the oven, and I don’t like to go through that work, so 1/2 inch steak is fine with me. I just season it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce. I leave it in the counter until it is in room temperature. You don’t want to cook a steak cold because the middle won’t cook correctly.
I cook it with butter/margarine to add more flavor. I honestly just use margarine because butter is a little bit more expensive and I’m a mom watching my budget. So far, I’ve never had any guest tell me, “This tastes like cheaper margarine and not butter.”

Best Steak Marinade Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 pcs ribeye steak 4 oz each
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp per side
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Season the steak with freshly ground salt and pepper.
- Generously spread garlic powder on each side of the ribeye.
- Pour 1/2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce on each side of the steak. There are 2 pcs of ribeye steaks, so that makes 4 sides of 1/2 tsp each.
- Put butter/margarine and olive oil in a hot pan. The olive oil stops the butter from burning. Heat pan to highest heat.
- Cook for 2 minutes each side until crust forms (the side turns black-brown), or until it's done to your liking (rare, medium, medium well, or well-done – I personally prefer medium well).
- Let it rest for 5 minutes. Cut into strips and serve.
